Welcome to DFW Turfgrass Science LLC
We have a narrow focus; we don't mow lawns or provide landscaping quotes. We are a specialist lawn consulting service specializing in soil health, diagnostic services, lab testing, and disease treatment solutions in Collin County, Dallas County, Tarrant County, Denton County, Grayson County, and other areas in Central and North Texas. Our lawn consultant services can help you diagnose the various symptoms that cause North Texas sod grass and lawns to be brown, bare, thin, diseased, yellow, full of weeds, or dying. Our consulting plans and soil testing remediation solutions use science to help you get to the true root cause of the problem(s), then clearly guide you into one of two paths: first, fixing the existing soil and grass health issues you have; or, second, telling you that you will be unable to grow the type of warm-season turfgrass you want to grow, and helping you pivot to groundcover, rock, or other sustainable solutions.
Lawns and grass in Texas do not die of old age or because of weeds; weeds are the effect, not the cause. Turfgrasses like Zoysia, Bermuda, and St. Augustine can only die from the following four things: fungus and soil-borne disease, nutrient and soil deficiencies (including drainage), lack of photosynthesis (too much shade for the turfgrass variety), and lack of water (including irrigation spacing/coverage issues). Our director has a degree in Turfgrass Science & Golf Course Management, and he will use science and experience to diagnose the root cause of your problems.
